The Laundry Aide / Porter is responsible for washing, drying and folding laundry in a manner that will not damage either machines or contents, while segregating torn / stained articles, reporting malfunctioning of the equipment and delivering linens to user departments.

Rate of Pay:         $27.228 - $27.939 / hour (Laundry Aide)
                              $28.114 - $28.819 / hour (Laundry Porter
Hours of Work:   Combination of shifts between 6:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday to Friday

Mandatory Requirements:

• Secondary School Graduate
• Ability to read, write, speak and follow oral and written instructions in English
• Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis
• Ability to keep up with work flow
• Ability to cooperate with other workers in department
• Maintain a safe working environment
• Demonstrated initiative and judgement when loading dryers, adjusting machine controls, and in smoothing and folding articles.
• Considerable initiative and judgement in ability to perform with minimal supervision, perform routine matters, answer inquiries, and prioritize duties.
• Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

Assets:

• Ability to speak fluently in French and understand spoken French

Responsibilities:

• Washing, drying, folding laundry
• Segregate torn, stained and otherwise imperfect articles
• Makes repairs by sewing on buttons, patching and resewing seams
• Mark personal clothing with identification label and deliver to departments
• Deliver clean clots and mops to various departments
• Deliver clean lab coats weekly to various departments
• Deliver specialty mattresses/bedding/cushions to floors upon request
• Clean work area at end of every shift
• Reporting malfunctioning of equipment
