Northern College is seeking a Lab Assistant – Veterinarian Technician in our Veterinarian Sciences department. The successful candidate will have the ability to organize complex statistical information and/or understand and apply the elementary principles of a science or a professional discipline.

Reporting to the Academic Chair, the successful candidate will provide assistance to instructors and more senior technologists in the demonstration of basic technical theories.
What you will be doing:
- Prepare and execute routine laboratory experiments showing the relationship between theory and test results;
- Modify standard lab tests as per instruction by senior technician;
- Prepare student lab manuals;
- Assist in the developing of teaching aids working from given concepts;
- Demonstrate appropriate use of equipment and facilities;
- Ensure health and safety regulations are enforced during time in the laboratory;
- Assist in Preparing Labs; and
- Contribute to paperwork and accreditation record keeping as needed by professor;
- Supervise student while retrieving and returning animals from kennels;
- Occasional Requirements to stay later to care for recovering animals; and
- Contribute to paperwork and accreditation record keeping as needed by professor

What you will need to be considered:
- 2 year Veterinary Technician diploma;
- 3 years’ practical experience in a related field; and
- Registered in good standing with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians.
