Contract Funding & Proposal Specialist

Location: Timmins, ON

Job type: Contract – 35 hours per week - Up to 6 months

What you’ll do in the role

·           Works with the Leadership team through an assessment process to project and develop budgets specific to child welfare services and prevention services.

·           Collaborate with the Executive Director and Director of Finance to determine how much funding is needed for a given project and how best to secure that funding.

·           Develop relationships and work with key funders such as the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and Federal Indigenous Services Canada (ISC); as well as funders from other Federal departments, Ministries, business sectors, and organizations (i.e. Social & Health; Municipal, Mining, and Forestry sectors).

·           Research and identify new grant funding opportunities.

·           Write, submit, and manage grant proposals and complete associated year end reporting.

·           Work with Managers and Directors to compile budgets for funding proposals.

·           Review and develop a high-level working knowledge of all Ministry and Federal current and ongoing files and documents related to submissions and financial monitoring.

·           Develop processes and templates for budget planning, coordination, development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

·           Work with the Finance department to ensure alignment and compliance with the funding of Federal and Ministry submissions.

·           Maintain an effective, concise filing system that will ensure confidentiality as per agency policies.

·           Prepare briefing notes for the Executive-Leadership team.

·           Adhere to the agency’s human resources, finance and all policies and procedures within the position responsibilities.

·           Participate constructively in staff meetings, seminars, training sessions as required.

·           Participates in community events and activities, which promote a positive image of the agency.

·           Perform other duties as required.

What you bring to the table

·           Honours of Bachelor Accounting, Business Administration or Commerce degree

·           Five (5) years experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting is preferred.

·           Experience in writing funding proposal to build capacity within the non-profit sector

·           Experience within financial analysis mitigating risk.

·           Must be willing to work flexible hours; Must be willing to travel when required;

·           Must produce clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening

·           Must possess a valid “G” Ontario driver`s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle.

·           Able to speak a Native language is an asset.
