Position Title: Childcare Cook/ECEA

Location: Keepers of the Circle New Liskeard, Ontario

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Site Supervisor

Start Date: Immediately

Position Summary

The Childcare Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks that meet the Canada Food Guide, CCEYA requirements, and any individual dietary needs. This role ensures safe food handling, maintains a clean and organized kitchen, and supports the overall functioning of the childcare program. The Childcare cook will also help in the classrooms providing relief to ECE’s for break coverage 20% of the day.

Key Responsibilities

·      Prepare daily meals and snacks for children following approved menus and portion guidelines.

·      Modify meals to accommodate allergies, intolerances, cultural needs, and medical dietary restrictions.

·     Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with Public Health and Food Premises     Regulation standards.

·      Follow safe food handling, storage, and labeling procedures.

·      Maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies; complete weekly shopping within budget.

·      Update menus seasonally and collaborate with leadership to ensure nutritional balance.

·      Maintain accurate records, including temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and allergy lists.

·      Support emergency procedures and contribute to a safe, inclusive environment.

·      Communicate respectfully with staff, families, and children.

·      Kitchen tasks 80% and ECEA tasks 20%

Qualifications

·      Food Handler Certification (required).

·      Experience preparing meals in a childcare, school, or institutional setting (preferred).

·      Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide, child nutrition, and allergy‑safe practices.

·      Ability to plan menus and prepare meals for large groups.

·      Strong organizational and time‑management skills.

·      Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

·      Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (required).

·      Up‑to‑date immunizations as required by Public Health.

Assets

·      Experience working in Indigenous organizations or culturally diverse environments.

·      Knowledge of traditional foods and cultural food practices.

·      CPR/First Aid Certification. (Can be provided)

Hours & Compensation

·      Hours: 8 hours per day, Monday–Friday]

·      Wage: $20.00/hour - 40 hours per week

·      Benefits: Available after 3-month probationary period is completed
